Ken Sim is a born-and-raised Vancouverite, entrepreneur, husband and father who has dedicated his time as Mayor to getting Vancouver back to the basics.
When Mayor Sim and the ABC Vancouver team took office, Vancouver was facing significant challenges around public safety, affordability, housing and the delivery of core City services.
Over the last four years, Mayor Sim and the ABC team have learned, adjusted and worked to restructure City Hall around practical results. That has included investments in police and mental health services, addressing encampments in public spaces, bringing in new leadership at City Hall and putting greater emphasis on the services Vancouverites rely on every day.
Affordability has also been a major focus. Vancouver City Council approved a 0% property tax increase for 2026, alongside significant investments in community centres, roads, sidewalks and other core infrastructure.
Mayor Sim believes City Hall should learn, adjust and deliver: focusing on practical solutions, respecting taxpayers and continually looking for better ways to serve Vancouverites.
He also recognizes that Vancouver has not yet achieved all of the change people hoped for four years ago. Progress has been made, but significant challenges remain, particularly around street disorder, mental health and addiction.
That is why Mayor Sim brought forward the Public Safety Plebiscite, giving Vancouverites a direct say on strengthening City laws against open-air hard drug use and calling on the Province for secure medical treatment, including 100+ involuntary care beds for people experiencing severe mental health and substance-use disorders.
For Mayor Sim, the next four years are about building on the progress Vancouver has made while pushing for the substantial change that is still needed.
His goal remains simple: a safer city, a more affordable city and a city that works for you.

ABC VANCOUVER'S PRIORITIES
Under Mayor Sim and the ABC team, Vancouver has seen crime fall, with our city achieving its lowest violent crime rate in 23 years. We're prioritizing public safety by removing dangerous encampments, investing in police and mental health nurses, standing up to harmful provincial policies, and ensuring Vancouver's most vulnerable receive the help they need.
We're making Vancouver more affordable by respecting taxpayer dollars, delivering a tax freeze for residents and businesses, respecting your tax dollars, and we’re helping families get ahead through practical affordability measures like free swimming lessons for children and support for free, family-friendly events city-wide.
Under previous administrations, we saw endless tax increases while the basics were ignored. ABC is changing the culture at City Hall away from the reckless spending of previous administrations and towards a focus on the needs of residents. We’re making record investments in roads and sidewalks, community centres, and the services Vancouverites expect when they pay their taxes.
ABC is delivering a strong local economy that benefits businesses and residents. We’re attracting world-class employers, allowing restaurants and bars to stay open later, and cutting red tape across the board, making it easier for businesses to create stable, well-paying jobs.
