Statement from ABC Vancouver on Child Care Commitment

Raising a family in Vancouver is expensive, and child care is one of the biggest costs parents face. For many families, a $10-a-day space is the difference between making ends meet and having to leave the city.

Over this term, ABC Vancouver has helped create more than 2,000 new child care spaces. We are proud of that progress, but we know families need more.

That is why, if re-elected, we will create  at least 2,000 additional new child care spaces.

We will keep doing our part by cutting red tape and making it faster and easier to build child care in Vancouver,  and to make room for new spaces in community facilities and new developments.

We also believe $10-a-day child care should go first to the families who need it most. We will work with our partners to make sure the spaces we help create reach the parents and children who would otherwise go without.

Every dollar a family saves on child care helps make life in Vancouver more affordable. That is what Raising Vancouver is all about, and it will remain a priority for ABC Vancouver.
