Jay Bailey

Jay Bailey is running for Park Board with ABC Vancouver.
Jay has spent his life as a Vancouver resident, athlete, and coach, he understands the importance of accessible, well-maintained spaces where people of all ages can connect, stay active, and build community. He is committed to ensuring Vancouver’s parks continue to serve residents today while being responsibly stewarded for future generations.
Jay attended Kerrisdale Elementary, Prince of Wales Secondary, and the University of Western Ontario, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and played varsity football for the Western Mustangs. He was part of the 1995 national championship team, recently inducted into the Western Mustangs Wall of Champions.
After graduating, Jay began his professional career in London, UK, gaining valuable international experience before moving to Sydney, Australia, to pursue his MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management. While at AGSM, Jay continued his passion for athletics, playing for the school’s rugby club and helping the team win the World MBA Rugby Championship, defeating teams from Harvard and Wharton along the way.
Jay holds a Chartered Accountant designation and has built a distinguished twenty-year career in corporate strategy and finance that has spanned industries, sectors, and borders. He is recognized for his ability to bring clarity to complex, multistakeholder challenges and foster collaboration across diverse teams to deliver common sense, practical solutions.
Outside of work and coaching, Jay maintains an active lifestyle. He enjoys travel and cooking, pursuits that broaden his perspective and offer creative outlets. He is running because he believes our parks, recreation facilities, and public spaces are essential to what makes Vancouver a great place to live.
Jay’s most meaningful role is as a husband and father. He and his wife, Paula, are raising two children who bring joy, purpose, and energy to daily life.
