Peter Meiszner is an ABC Vancouver city councillor dedicated to building a safer, more vibrant and more livable city. Since being elected in 2022, he has earned a reputation as a collaborative, results-driven leader focused on public safety, thriving neighbourhoods and creating great public spaces.A Vancouver resident for nearly 25 years, Peter has lived in East Vancouver, Gastown, Yaletown and the West End, giving him a deep appreciation for the city’s diverse neighbourhoods and the people who make them unique.

Since joining council, Peter has established himself as a results-driven leader with a strong record of delivering on the issues that matter most to residents. He has championed public safety, worked closely with neighbourhoods to address local priorities, and led efforts to create welcoming, people-focused public spaces. His public space initiatives include the future Robson Street Fan Zone, the Davie Street “Space for People” plan, Gastown revitalization, and the Granville Street pedestrian zone. A passionate advocate for downtown Vancouver, Peter works closely with Business Improvement Associations to strengthen local businesses, enhance public spaces and help neighbourhoods thrive.

Peter has also served on a broad range of civic boards and committees, including Vancouver Civic Theatres, the Vancouver Public Library, the Vancouver Art Gallery, EasyPark, and Metro Vancouver’s housing and water committees. He serves as council liaison to the Gastown Historic Area Planning Committee—where he was vice-chair before being elected—and to the 2SLGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee.

Before entering public life, Peter was Senior Digital Strategist in Media Relations at the University of British Columbia. Earlier in his career, he was Global BC’s first online news producer and also reported on-air, building a reputation for his personable and energetic style and deep knowledge of Vancouver.

Peter is passionate about architecture, urban design and city-building. He believes Vancouver can grow in a way that protects its character while creating more housing, expanding economic opportunity, and ensuring everyone has access to high-quality public services and a safe, welcoming community.

Even before running for office, Peter was a well-known community advocate, speaking out on public safety and supporting compassionate, practical solutions to help Vancouver’s most vulnerable residents.

Peter lives in downtown Vancouver, where he enjoys cycling and running on the seawall, exploring local neighbourhoods and supporting independent cafés and businesses.
