By Jaime Stein & Ralph Kaisers, ABC Vancouver Candidates for City Council
Vancouver is a city of incredible potential. From its breathtaking natural beauty to its vibrant communities and dynamic economy, it’s a place we are proud to call home. But we also know our city faces real challenges— public safety and housing supply chief among them. We believe that with the right team at City Hall, we can turn these challenges into opportunities and build a Vancouver that works for us all.
That’s why we’re stepping up to serve. We’re running for Vancouver City Council because we believe in action over rhetoric, in leadership that delivers results and in a vision that ensures every resident—whether a young family, a small business owner, or a lifelong Vancouverite—can thrive.
A Safe City, is a Strong City
“I’ll never forget a call I responded to in the Downtown Eastside—a young woman had been robbed in her own building. She was shaken, but what stayed with me over the years wasn’t just the crime itself—it was her belief that no one was coming to help. No one should ever feel that way in their own home, in their own city,” says Ralph Kaisers, ABC Vancouver candidate for city council and Sergeant with the Vancouver Police Department. “As a frontline officer, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when communities don’t feel safe. That’s why I’ve spent my career not just enforcing the law, but fighting for the resources, mental health supports and community partnerships that actually prevent crime. Vancouverites deserve to feel safe where they live, work and raise their families—and that’s exactly what I’m committed to delivering.”
Safety is the foundation of a thriving city. When people feel safe in their communities, they are more engaged, businesses flourish and families can grow with confidence. As a veteran law enforcement officer and the President of the Vancouver Police Union, Ralph Kaisers has dedicated his career to public safety. He understands what it takes to address crime at its root—by investing in frontline resources, expanding community partnerships, and tackling the mental health and addiction crises with real solutions.
ABC Vancouver has already taken significant steps—fully funding the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, hiring more officers and investing in important community partnerships. But there’s more work to do. We will continue advocating for stronger mental health supports, smart policing strategies and new solutions to fix the problems that have existed for too long.
“As a father of three, I think about my children’s future in Vancouver every single day. I want them to grow up in a city where they can afford to live, where they feel safe and where opportunity is within reach,” says Jaime Stein, ABC Candidate for city council. “That’s why I’m running—to bring common sense solutions that will make Vancouver a city families can count on for generations to come.”
Maximizing Every Tax Dollar
Smart budgeting is about ensuring taxpayers get the best value for their money.
“Leadership is about delivering real results—not just promises,” says Stein. “At Hootsuite, I led a global team that generated new multi-million dollar revenue streams while ensuring some of the highest renewal rates in company history. I’ve worked across 14 countries, navigating complex regulations and budgets, and I know what it takes to manage finances responsibly. Vancouver needs that same smart, results-driven approach at City Hall—where every dollar is spent wisely, and every decision delivers value to residents.”
We will push for smart spending, responsible investment in infrastructure and lower tax burdens for families and businesses while ensuring core services remain strong. We want to make it easier for entrepreneurs to succeed, and ensure Vancouver remains a hub for innovation, tourism and culture.
Investing in What Matters
A great city is more than just its skyline—it’s the parks where families gather, the playgrounds where children play, and the cultural events that bring us together. That’s why we are committed to investing in the infrastructure and amenities that make Vancouver a world-class place to live.
ABC Vancouver’s $3.5 billion Capital Plan ensures that every neighbourhood benefits. From road improvements to new community centres, pools and cycling paths, we want to make sure Vancouver is built for the future. We’ve also made it easier for world-class events to take place, bringing more energy and economic benefits to our city.
Our experiences have taught us that when we bring people together for a common goal, we can create lasting change. That’s the same spirit we’ll bring to City Hall—working collaboratively to make Vancouver a safer, more affordable and more vibrant city for all of us.
A Call to Action: Vancouver’s Future is on the Ballot
On April 5, Vancouver will elect two new city councillors. This election is about ensuring that Vancouver continues to move forward with strong leadership, smart policies and a commitment to action.
We’re running because we love this city. We believe in its potential. And we know that by working together, we can make Vancouver safer, more affordable and more vibrant for us all.Learn more: abcvancouver.ca/byelection
