VANCOUVER — ABC Vancouver announced today that Peter Meiszner had been nominated as ABC’s fourth candidate for Vancouver City Council.
“I’m running with ABC to be a part of an inclusive, forward-thinking team that will take real action on public safety, housing, affordability, and the environment.” said Meiszner. “ABC offers the only viable alternative to Kennedy Stewart and his supporters on council.”
Meiszner currently works as a Senior Digital Strategist for the University of British Columbia and is the owner of UrbanYVR, a blog focused on urban issues. Previous to UBC, Meiszner was an online producer at Global BC where he appeared on the Morning News and News Hour Final and was well-known to viewers with his regular social media segments. Meiszner committed to addressing the city’s shortage of affordable and accessible housing.
“I believe every generation should have the opportunity to build a future for themselves in Vancouver,” continued Meiszner. “I want to ensure Vancouver is a place where young people can afford to buy a home, raise a family, and where seniors feel that they are able to age in place.”
Meiszner, a resident of Downtown Vancouver for over 14 years, committed to improving the city’s entertainment and nightlife while addressing Vancouver’s ongoing public safety crisis.
“Vancouver is a fun and exciting place to live but I know we can make it even better,” continued Meiszner. “I want to renew our public spaces and work with small businesses to create a more vibrant, rich, and exciting nightlife for our city.”
“People deserve to feel safe and secure as they enjoy the best our city has to offer,” concluded Meiszner. “We all want to live in a city where people feel safe to walk down the street and ensure those who are struggling have access to the supports and resources they need.”
ABC Vancouver had previously nominated four candidates for the 2022 municipal election: Ken Sim for Mayor and incumbent City Councillors Rebecca Bligh, Lisa Dominato, and Sarah Kirby-Yung for Council. Vancouver municipal elections will be held on October 15th, 2022.
