OP-ED: Gastown is clawing its way back from the brink
Vancouver has reached its lowest violent crime rate in 23 years because of ABC’s majority policy of fully-funding frontline services and directing resources to the areas that need them most through pilot programs like Task Force Barrage.
Task Force Barrage revived Gastown, said Brian Davie, President of the Gastown Residents Association.
“Gastown is clawing its way back from the brink,” he said. “Foot traffic is up. Events are returning. And the sense of shared purpose is stronger than it has been in years.”
Now, Davie says, it’s time for the Government of BC to step up and build on the city’s momentum.
