Lenny Zhou nominated by ABC Vancouver as candidate for Vancouver City Council

VANCOUVER — ABC Vancouver today announced that operations engineer Lenny Zhou had been nominated as ABC’s fifth candidate for Vancouver City Council.

“I am running because I want to give back to the community that has given me so much,” said Zhou. “I’m concerned about the rise of crime and racism we’ve seen over the last four years, and I’m worried for my friends and family – we can do better.”

Zhou currently works as an engineer for the Provincial Health Services Authority at BC Children’s Hospital. Zhou is an active community volunteers and serves on the board for the Vancouver-Kingsway Federal Liberal Party.

“As an engineer, I would like to bring evidence-based policy making back to Vancouver City Hall,” continued Zhou. “I want to use my expertise in engineering to get Vancouver’s infrastructure back on track.”

Zhou first moved to Vancouver in 2005 to complete his master’s degree at UBC. He now lives in East Vancouver with his wife Norah and their six month old son Nolen.

“I’ve had the opportunity to build a life here in Vancouver with my family and have been given the chance to devote my career to helping others,” concluded Zhou. “I want to make sure Vancouver is a safe, affordable city for my son and the next generation to grow up in.”

ABC Vancouver had previously nominated five candidates for the 2022 municipal election: Ken Sim for Mayor, incumbent City Councillors Rebecca Bligh, Lisa Dominato, and Sarah Kirby-Yung and former journalist Peter Meiszner for Council. Vancouver municipal elections will be held on October 15th, 2022.
